Southwest Pinnacle Koh Tao

The dive site of Southwest Pinnacle Koh Tao consists of huge granite pinnacles ranging from approximately 5m to 24m deep. Steep rock pinnacles are completely immersed and rise up from the sandy seabed. All surrounded by large boulders and stoney corals. Southwest Pinnacle Koh Tao is located around 12km off the Southwest coast of the island and is one of the best dive sites in the area. Not dived as regularly as some of the other sites around Koh Tao. As a result, it’s very possible for you to be the only boat moored up here.

Fish at Southwest Pinnacle Koh Tao

Small Groupers and Yellowtail Barracudas can often be seen here and you may be lucky enough to spot a Whale Shark. Similarly, large pelagic fish that can be seen swimming around here.

Furthermore, Leopard sharks, blue-spotted rays and marble groupers are typically seen here by scuba divers, resting on the sandy bottom. Finally, other marine life include; butterfly fish, tuna, giant barracuda, jacks, trevally, fusiliers and more.

Coral

Most noteworthy, due to it’s remote location, Southwest Pinnacle exhibits some of the best corals around The Gulf of Thailand. Almost all the towering pinnacles are carpeted with pink anemones. Therefore, are full pink anemone fish. Surrounding the rock formations are black corals and sea fans. The shallower sections of Southwest Pinnacle Koh Tao are covered in whip corals.
